Marburger has night end early in Freedom 76 Boyertown, PA (9/13/08) ... The Freedom 76 is the longest event on the calendar each season at Grandview Speedway. The race, paying $20K to the winner, is one of the richest short track events in the entire country. The race was held in front of a near capacity crowd on Saturday night. With a total of 69 cars looking to qualify for a spot in the 76-lap distance race it surely makes things tougher on a driver to bring home the big check. Todd and the #18 MFR team started in the 6th spot in heat race number 4. Just four cars would transfer to the feature event. Todd was running just outside a qualifying spot when another car spun in front of the car and blasted the right side of the car, ending Todd's bid for a qualifying spot. The team went to work to make necessary repairs for Marburger to get back on track and make a final run at a spot in the main event. Todd was the 6th place starter for that event and had a qualifying spot in hand, but coming off of turn four on the final lap Todd was just edged out at the finish line for the 3rd and final transfer spot. For Marburger and the team it was an extremely sour ending to what was an overall rough day. Earlier that morning the crew went to start the car in the garage and the car would not crank. It turned out that the battery had gone bad. The team scrambled to get a new battery and necessary connections just to make it to the track. We have one more point show remaining in the 2008 season. At this point we are unsure of our plans for the 2009 campaign. The costs of racing are always rising and our family-funded effort is in need of sponsors to keep our race team going beyond this season.
